WHY SHOULD I HAVE NECK LIFT SURGERY?
You may be a candidate for neck lift surgery if you have localized deposits of fat in the anterior part of the neck - under the chin. If you have muscle laxity under your chin only or you have sagging with skin folds in the anterior part of the neck (under the chin only) you may want to consider having neck lift surgery.
WHAT IS THE INTENDED RESULT OF NECK LIFT SURGERY?
Following neck lift surgery you should enjoy a more youthful neck with better contour.
WHAT TYPE OF ANESTHESIA WILL BE USED DURING NECK LIFT SURGERY?
Neck lick surgery is usually done under sedation and local or general anesthesia, which is given by an expert anesthesiologist. These services will be provided by the facility where your surgery is performed And the fee for this service will be billed separately.
DOES NECK LIFT SURGERY REQUIRE HOSPITALIZATION?
No. Usually the neck lift procedure is done on an outpatient basis in the office, at an ambulatory surgical care facility, or in the hospital.
HOW IS THE NECK LIFT PROCEDURE PERFORMED?
The neck lift procedure requires an incision under the chin. Fat is suctioned or directly excised, muscles are tightened, a small amount of skin may be removed - all depending upon individual findings.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER THE NECK LIFT OPERATION?
The patient goes home with chin and neck wrapped in dressings or in an elastic neck sling. Initial discomfort is easily controlled with oral medication. Swelling and bruising disappear over approximately two weeks. The final result is evident within 1 - 3 months.
HOW SOON AFTER NECK LIFT SURGERY WILL I BE ABLE TO RETURN TO WORK?
Some swelling and discoloration is expected following surgery but subsides 10-14 days following neck lift surgery. Most people return to work and their usual activity with-in a few days to one week.
ARE THE RESULTS OF NECK LIFT PERMANENT?
The results of plastic surgery are permanent. There is no sudden “falling down.” Surgery, however, does not stop the aging process. Although excess skin and fat are removed and wrinkles are diminished, the skin continues to age, and with time the patient may feel the need to have a secondary procedure.
